My bilge pump sucks...

"I was just trying to extrapolate on your hydraulic cooling system."

Some things that function quite well do not stand up to Reducto Ad Absurbum.

My Hyd cooling can not be scaled up 50 or 500%.

But for boat steering , the AP , and the Hyd windlass it cant be beet for KISS.

I am not bothered by having an inch or two of water in the bilge , its is a boat!

I had an extra 12 V washdown pump so I just hooked it up to a small switch put the pick up down in the bottom of the bilge hooked to a little brass screen. Sucks it pretty dry.

The only way to have a totally dry bilge is just to stop all the leaks. ?But you'll be chasing that forever.

Water gets in who knows where or how, it just gets in.

Ain't that the truth! I have a covered slip, PSS and no leaking windows and it still gets in! I can only trace mine to condensation and the occasional rain in a north wind. The ER is dry as a bone. The water is dripping in from the trough around my laz hatch. I have a bin of oil refill bottles under that spot that has caught a few ounces (ml for our metric friends). :D
