Adventures in Paradise.

I think watching this series as a kid first triggered my love of cruising and the sea.

OMG!!!! - TY for posting that. :D

I too watched AVIP all the time. Clearly recall the scene you posted. Having been often aboard boats from berth this show was another item that also made me have even greater love the water. :speed boat: :thumb:

Okay cruisers,

I'm planning to spend the next summer afloat in Western WA and BC on my trawler. ...I've begun accruing DVDs...

Great List!

Great compilation. Thanks for getting us started. You have given me some titles I had ever thought of (some I'd never heard of).

We have all forgotten one of the all-time best: Alec Guiness in The Captain's Paradise!

Alec Guinness is truly one of the greatest actors ever. Though not his greatest performance, he's charming as the seasick Capt. William Horacio Ambrose in the 1957 movie "All at Sea".

Nice list.....since you don't seem to mind non-fiction...may I suggest "Endurance"

( its the story of Earnest Shackleton's incredible journey in 1914 )

Its also a book, which is a great read as well.

It is the subject of many books, but I think the best of them is the one by Alfred Lansing. I hadnt thought of the movie, frankly, and time is growing short, but it is a good recommendation. Maybe next year.
