Being new to trawlers (been live aboard sailor) I need some opinions and my search for a boat. We thought we had it narrowed down to a Monk36. It had just about everything on our list but now we look at a Albin 36 and now aren't sure. The Albin is priced somewhat lower for what seems like a similar boat. Not sure if I'm over looking something in construction or design. Anyone have any knowledge on these two boats? The more we look the more unsure we are.

similar...I would give the nod to Monks for construction...but that I'm not completely sure of due to lack of experience with Monks...

I do like Albin layouts better...but that's completely only an opinion issue.

Albins from the 70/80s suffer greatly from neglect...look closely if going that route.

The model year of each boat does make a difference along with the specs.

I have a 2003 Monk 36 and am very happy with it, we bought it in Annapolis in 2008 and brought her to Louisiana along the ICW, ours was built in Nova Scotia. I have had no experience with Albins. If you like to contact me for more details just send a private message to my profile page.
