Looking for a good Buyer's Broker - recommendations?

Does anyone have a recommendation /referral for a great buyer's boat broker?

WE are looking to purchase a trawler this year - but need to find a reliable broker.

While we are located in Ohio - most likely to buy a boat on EAST coast or great lakes.

Thanks in advance for any help with this.

You are looking for someone to spend significant time- BSing with you about your wants, internet searching, phoning other brokers, lining up showings, etc. You can't do this over the phone.

I suggest you drive down to Sandusky some Saturday afternoon once the weather breaks, drive along the water front where there are a dozen or so marinas which is where you will find the brokers and go inside and talk to them. First go to Yachtworld and look up Ohio brokers in the Sandusky area and look at their listings. Brokerages tend to specialize a bit: sail vs power and go fast vs cruiser/trawlers. Find a few that look right and go talk face to face.

If someone here are elsewhere recommends a good broker, great. But you have to meet them face to face to expect anything to develop.

My $0.02 is that many brokers and some good ones are reluctant to spend a great deal of time with prospective buyers that are "looking" to purchase... but aren't sure exactly what they are looking for. It's another story if you can cite 1-2 specific builders, models, size, price range, etc. that you are considering / prefer.

I've had good luck once I decided what I wanted and had a listing I thought I would be interested in. I / we did a lot of looking, talking, "kicking" tires before that point.

If you are unsure of the specifics - there's a lot of great info / tips to get started in the Boat Search 101 thread.
