Life is good

GW and I are down in AZ now and took our Whaler out to Lake Pleasant for a pleasant afternoon on the water. One thing we wanted to do was cruise up into the NE corner of the lake where the Aqua Fria River flows into the lake. That area is closed from mid-December until mid-July because it’s an eagle nesting area and we’ve never been on the lake when that area is open.

So after we launched we ran up to that area to take a look. On the way up there we lucked out. We ran over a submerged branch that was about 8’ long and 3” in diameter. It sounded like he!! and make the motor kick up but we didn’t have any damage to the prop, skeg or motor.

That portion of the lake was everything we’d heard it was. Here’s a video I shot as we were leaving. In the background you can hear the motor running because we’re idling our way out.

We then cruised to another part of the lake, near the NW corner. We found a secluded little cove and beached the boat so we could just relax. We both had taken books to read so we did that for awhile then took short naps. That’s the first time we’ve taken naps on the boat and it was so quiet in that cove that it was easy to just kick back and nap.

After an hour or so on the beach we cruised down to Scorpion Bay, which is in the south end of the lake and is the home to two things: A marina that is run by Skipper Bob’s and Dillon’s BBQ restaurant. We didn’t eat because they were getting ready to close the kitchen. So we just had a drink then climbed back in the boat and headed back to the ramp to load the boat.

Yup, life is good. Four hours on the water, we got to explore an area of the lake we’d never been in before, the weather was perfect (78* and almost no wind and no clouds).

Does it get any better than this?

You look too stressed out. May I recommend some aqua therapy..... Nice pics.

Yep, looks like the SouthWest lakes! Can't remember if we have been on that lake or not. Nice day though. Cheers!

Cool stuff, but I'm confused by the two boats. I see a whaler behind the two of you when you are reading, but in later pictures there is a Regal or something similar that looks to be on the lake too?

West, the water was 68*. There is some fishing but we don't do much fishing. There were a handful of boats on the lake that were fishing. Some were drift fishing, some anchored. We talked with one of the fishing boats and he hadn't caught anything. He came by to tell us how much he liked our Whaler. Gotta love those comments.

Twisted, I'm not sure what you were referring to with the Regal but there were a few boats on the lake. Being a weekday there were not many out there. A couple of boats pulling wakeboarders, a few cruising, several fishing.

Coincidentally, the name of the Whaler is "Sunny Beach". It fits.

He saw what I saw. Yesterday your links showed a number of pictures, including the lazy dayz Whaler and a bowrider. Today, only the Whaler shows.

A photobucket glitch?
