You know, after the sea-trial I got to thinking about that forward cockpit arrangement on that boat. We spoke about maybe an extended roof or bimini for shade. Here's a photoshop rendition of one with the bimini. Really, if you keep it within a neutral color range and don't put it up too high, it doesn't look bad. I've got no idea how deep that well is in the cockpit, so I'm only guessing that this height would give you a manageable entry. Click on photo to enlarge.

Then, of course, you could simply enclose the forward cockpit with these PY Cruiser Extended Cabin and Raised Pilothouse versions.

Island Packet PY Cruiser sea trial

Ha! Actually, those mods make it look a bit more like a normal powerboat. Did you rename this model as well? Can't make it all out on my phone but I think I saw the word hillbilly used? 😄😄😄😄

The seller adjusted the price to take care of some survey issues, so it appears I own a boat. Eeeek. What have I done?

Congratulations. I have been aboard a sister ship and was impressed with the Island Packet ruggedness among other things. I look forward to hearing more.

I had about given up on you! In case I missed it , where is the boat located? Hopefully an adventure will ensue.

I had almost given up myself. The boat is in Fort Lauderdale. Moving it to Indiantown next week to haul and store and fix a few things. Then this summer will fly back with the family and explore the Gulf side of FL some, then head home.

Actually I'm sure I'll be back before summer to check on her and piddle around, and to watch Larry work on Bucky. 😁

That's almost exactly the same as our trip "home" last year at this time. We started in Stuart. You have a great adventure ahead. We may cross paths as I plan to leave Kemah around the end of Sept. to start the "loop".

Maybe Larry can help you w/ the remodel, I like the lower picture best!

Yeah Cat Daddy! I'm trying to talk my DW into the loop and beyond. She is still a little suspect. I have the Caribbean on my mind. Must be the rum I'm drinking...

Only hassle for a brown water boat is the Mona Passage , worth the effort to wait for a weather window.
