Do you know your 34ft American Tug is now documented as a 36Ft? That swim platform is now accounted for in that documentation. CHUCKLE
Near as I can determine, the current American Tugs have sliding pilot house doors and a deck access to the chain locker. That's all the changes I see.

What are you considering next?

Yes, I saw that. Marketing and image is everything these days....

I know myself all too well - I don't dare even start looking at larger boats yet....:D We still have a house to get ready and put on the market before I even know what my budget will be.

See the advantage of a condo? Lock the door, tell management you are going to be gone for a while and keep an eye on the place. LOL
Of course, if you sell the house and don't buy a condo, you better buy a BIG boat. Might want to get a storeroom to store all the 'treasures' you do not want to sell or throw away.

Hi OldDan,

I bought the sternthruster cowlings along with the thruster, both from Defender.

No budget to have a liveaboard boat AND a condo (aware of the benefits), even a small one, unfortunately ;)

Fortunately, however, I have a dear wife who is on the same (minimalist) page with me (at least for now) and we have downsized over the last few year so much so that we may not need TOO big of a boat!

Just kidding. I don't get any redirects or ads when I view the pics. All I get is the pic page. If you are using firefox I suggest trying out AdBlockPlus and NoScript. Both come from the Mozzila addons site. They have really helped block the crap from a lot of ad over populated sites.
 
I've been shopping for just the right boat for a very long time. Will I buy another someday? Time and finances will tell. Mind you, I still have 5 boats, 3 kayaks, 1 canoe and a 15 foot fishing boat.

I found a nice trawler on a local for sale site, showed it to a friend and he bought it right away. He asked me first, of course. A Coaster 23 owned by one of our TF members. Perkins 50 hp, 8 Knt max, nice small package. http://www.canadianyachting.ca/boat-reviews/72-power/3474-coaster-23

I've looked at and taken photos of several interesting boats but this Thanksgiving weekend i saw a very pretty cruiser that I am quite taken with. First, I am in awe of the BC Forest Service survey boats of years gone by. Then Sam Devlin used their design as an inspiration for a 35 foot cruiser. How could I not like it?

I talked Fred, the owner, into giving me a tour. What an impressive boat!

Really like the lines of that boat! Think I would much prefer it with a single engine though. Seems like an extreme amount of ballast or maybe that refers to displacement.

One very nice price devlin is sale Skandinavian, i like this boats is very fine conditions and look salty...

Plywood hull is very unik construktion here, maby low price is this...

I consider the twin a plus but agree on the balast. This is an extreme design w a very slack stern w a nearly straight run aft and a deep forefoot. Kinda like a fish form hull but from the side. The bow may stay planted while the tail waggs around a bit .. or more. Probably dosn't and I'd probably love to have her. So much to really really like. Twins on a boat like this are rare so she may be a find for someone.

Look at the wake at the stern in the pic in the link .. almost nothing. My Willard is the opposite. Very full aft and a bit slack fwd. But I see the WLL is about the same as Willy. Very interesting boat.

Sockeye? Wish I had the money.

It is indeed a beautiful boat. I have no doubt of its seaworthiness. Alas, it is a wooden hull. If it were fiberglass, it would make a perfect boat. If i were a still hull, I think there would be a line of folks wanting to buy it.

Per the price, it's about right. 10K per foot, without the wiggle or desperation room.

Ballast? That would be a typo. Displacement would sound correct.

As far as preferring a single - normally so would I BUT in this case the tiny twins open the interior completely and give you so much usable space. To keep the cabin height low and still give well over 6 feet of headroom, the engines are not under the raised pilothouse. Instead they are under the seating in the saloon. If you look at the interior shot, looking aft, on the right side of the photo (port) the lounge seat is a few inches wider at the near end. Port engine is under there. Starboard engine is under the dinette seat. If you didn't know, you wouldn't guess. A single engine would give you a big centrally mounted engine box to climb around, a much higher pilothouse or some kind of nontraditional (read 'wierd') cockpit located engine.

Nope! In my opinion, after seeing her, a single wouldn't do it. In this case the twins are a definite asset.

You are talking about Czarnnia aren't you?
It states 12900lbs ballast in the specs. That's WAY over half the weight of my boat that is wider and has about the same WLL. It's probably a typo ... 1290lbs ballast? My smaller Willard has 4000lbs ballast but 12900lbs is unthinkable. IMO

Your comments on the twin engines is excellent IMO.
