This is one of the boats at the Classic Car and Boat Show in LaConner Wa in the fall. This is a Skagit (brand) boat .. the largest I've seen. Many Skagit boats came in this color and it looks great buffed out.
The second pic is of another Skagit of more typical size. The color is not original but very nice ... I think.

Summer Star is a Phil Barron design/build. She was built for Oliver Summers in approx 1970. He was Royal Vic, so as they organized the Vic Maui race (sail) and needed an escort boat, he had her equipped with enough extra fuel to make it to Maui. When Summers got old, she was bought and lovingly maintained by my good friend Ron Jupp, who kept her for many years, till he moved up to a 60ft ex RCAF supply boat "Nimpkish II" that also qualifies as an "Interesting boat".

Eric do you have any more pictures of that big Skagit cruiser? That thing gets my motor running.

This aggressive-looking vessel was seen docked in Sausalito.

One of our local trawlers:
Seems to pay its way catching fish bait.

Keith re tha S Star I suspected there would be interesting tales about her. Thanks for the amplifying information.
CP no. I looked. I've seen her near Friday Harbor on two occasions so I suspect they may give rides in the summer. I do know where there is a Skagit in a back yard near the bridge that just died. More like a 20 - 22' or so though. I'm quite sure that big one is an inboard and I don't think I've ever seen another. She will prolly be at the gathering in the fall and I don't like to miss that so perhaps more pics?
Mark that fishboat has some strange rigging .... is it truly a "trawler"?
Agressive? Hmmmm. The negative sheer? More boat aft than fwd?
Here's another handsome boat from that show that I've never posted.
The lack of bow pulpits and rails on this page is golden.

Almost 50 years ago my Dad had a 20' Skagit sedan model with that same turquoise deck and cabin top. Power was a little 4 cylinder Volvo with one of the earliest Volvo outdrives, the engine ran like a top but the drive was often broken. We lived in a logging camp on Cracroft Island at the time, and ran that boat back and forth to Vancouver(160 miles +/-) a few times. In those days you could do the whole trip and not see another pleasure boat. We thought she was fast but we probably cruised at less than 20 knots, it was at least a two day trip......but high adventure for a 10 year old kid......

That rigging is for hauling the net. A couple of other small trawlers are similarly rigged.

Eagle,
Perhaps I should have just called it a sailboat and let it go at that.
An amazing number of people think our Willard is wood. Now I kinda know why. In my defense the pic is cropped ... we weren't close. I sometimes hold my camera on a small tri-pod and get much sharper pics in low light or on the aft deck underway. Many pics I can't crop down to 25% of their original size.
They seemed to be having a good time sailing.

Thanks for those.
Don't know if this is the same boat.
And I love Stan Rogers. Have all his albums. So sad he died so early.

David your previous boat would be a great contribution for this thread. The only photo I recall seeing was quite interesting.
