ICW Travel - what the...???

Heading north, we're behind the migration, but the weather's warm, days are long and the scenery is greened up. As we made our way north of the Socastee bridge, we noticed a number of people in the water. Nothing out of the ordinary there, but there seemed to be something else.

Perhaps a manatee, they seemed to be clustered around something big and dark. Nah, never saw a manatee in the Carolinas... What are they doing?? What the.... well, that's a first in 10 years of traveling the ICW!! We've seen 'gators, ospreys, turtles, snakes, herons, pelicans and now... an elephant. Yup. He was in for a swim and had company! Who'd'a guessed..

The zoo. Field trips. We're told it's possible to see a giraffe same spot. Now that would be very cool as wifey is a huge fan of giraffes!
