I must go down to the sea again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by;
And the wheel’s kick and the wind’s song and the white sail’s shaking,
And a grey mist on the sea’s face, and a grey dawn breaking.
Oh, and a cold beer and warm pizza too. And lots of snacks. And babes in bikinis and boats. Lots of boats. Yup, that's what I want. Oh, and a live band. We gotta have a band playing so we can all enjoy the music.
Every year our yacht club has an event called the Pizza Pigout. The name came about because one of the members of the club owns a pizza franchise here and pizzas are ordered, brought down to the docks then delivered out to the anchored boats via dinghies.
This event takes place in an open bay between our club docks and the Port docks where I keep my boat. We were set up to be the "anchor boat", i.e., the first one to drop the hook at the upwind side of the horseshoe. We got the hook set around 9:45 on a day that promised to be hot, sunny, almost no wind, and lots of fun.
Our 2016 Pizza Pigout took place last Saturday and here's what it looked like. I uploaded 67 of the politically correct photos to Photobucket. Here are a few of those. I'll provide the link below if you want to see the rest of them:
These were taken when we were forming up the horseshoe shaped raft up. The official count for boats in the raft up was 54.
Here are some shots of the fun that was going on during the day. I think it's safe to say that everyone had a good time and everyone got a LOT of sun.
Here's the Pizza delivery lady.
