Enjoy your parade, but don't always follow the boat in front of you.
One year in Dana Point the boat in front of me started veering out of the parade line. I started to follow, the instinctive thing to do at night with bright Christmas lights everywhere, but then turned to get back in line following the boat in front of him. Once I was back in the parade line I noticed he was headed straight for the jetty. I blew my horn, but he didn't stop or change coarse. Maybe the music was too loud, another safe boating distraction during Christmas parades.
The boat did hit the jetty, but no one was injured.
Be safe.

Do not tighten your zip ties to tight. There easier to cut off when your removing your lights.

Since she is being painted sometime in the near future, I am not to concerned about duct tape or the like.

I had her out last night for a trial run. Man what fun! I have to have a talk with the marina though. No hook on back pilings since they were replaced. Impossible to get the lines off.

Also a minor fuel leak from a compression fitting. Calling my diesel mechanic. Not sure if it is under pressure.

Donna,

Looks like you have really thought this through, and hope you'll have a great time. Having a captain on board is REAL SMART, as well as having a spotter.

I'm sure you've thought of your guests and have them well briefed.

I've done a bunch of parades, but my goal is to watch them from now on. Ours (on the inter coastal of St. Pete) are not too huge and wouldn't hold a candle to the Ft Lauderdale ones. We typically have between 30 and 50 boats in each parade, put on by the local municipality.... So there's plenty of opportunity to see a few.

My biggest issue of participating is the guy in front or back of me may be drunker than I am....:face palm:

I've see really stupid stuff.... like a kid driving a 50 footer and no one watching him, or people blinding others with spot lights, passing others at high speed, etc....

Have a great time....

I'm hoping to view the parades from a kayak... out of the way.
