We’re looking to replace our Weaver Davits with more traditional transom or deck mounted davits. Our Dingy is an 8’ Boss “Hard Inflatable’that weighs 180lbs, and the 4 HP Mercury outboard about another 50 lbs.
The Forespar davits are rated for 350lbs, but are Rail Mounted with just a 3" pad attached to the transom or deck.

I question the strength of the rail mount, but perhaps if reinforced by attaching a connector to another rail, it might suffice. I’m contacting Forespar to get their input.
Any thoughts or suggestions will be appreciated.
