Flybridge Skirting

We are considering having flybridge skirting made for our boat but before we do we wanted to know what the purpose of the skirting is? We have always thought it looked nice on other boats but is there an actual purpose to it? Also what materials are people using? Sunbrella or sun shading material like phirtex?

Well one thing it can do is keep small children and pets from falling through under the railing. You can do either Sunbrella or Pfifertex. Pfifertex is really easy to sew. I have a commercial sewing machine so everything sews pretty easy but Pfifertex can easily be sewn on a home machine. Depending on what look you are going for will determine which material to use.
