We have a 34' 1978 CHB and when we bought it the side gate was missing. We have one at the back that matches the teak railing but it is smaller than the side entry so we can't swap it. Does anyone happen to know where we can purchase one?

Greetings,
Welcome aboard eh? Do you mean that movable section of rail with a latch on one end and a hinge on the other? If so, and the fittings are the same (side and aft) perhaps have a longer piece of teak made and use the aft fittings.

Of course, then, that will leave you without an aft "gate". Unfortunately, most, if not all of the cast bronze fittings on Taiwan boats were made "in house" at the factory and will be very difficult to match IMO. So I suspect your only recourse would be to buy one new set of hardware and put up with the mis-match.

Just a suggestion: https://www.go2marine.com/product/2...lock-316-stainless-steel-polished-finish.html

That is another problem we ran into. We can't seem to find hardware that is the right shape. We are thinking about taking the back one off and putting it on the side if we can't find anything else.

Thanks very much.

Here's a link to a prior post re; rail hinges w/ several worthwhile links...

It looks like the Port Townsend Foundry one has bronze ones if you scroll through the part gallery you might find something close. Also the salvage links worth checking.
