Dry Dock Facility heading up river

This was pretty cool to see. It will be interesting to see a big ship in dry dock..

Very cool, Tom. Thanks for posting that. Do you know where it's "permanent residence" will be on the Willamette?

Not exactly other than Portland. According to the article they already have customers. The USGS was on the radio a lot when they were taking it up river.

Blue Marlin at Vigor Shipyard, Swan Island on the Willamette River

We trawlered by this morning for a look at the ship & drydock atop it, that thing is huge. They had to dock diagonally on the ship to make it fit. There was no extra room on the deck. The CG announced they were going to anchor it down river a bit for the night & "undock" it early tomorrow. There is a Navy merchant marine lift ship docked just upriver at the shipyard called the John Glenn. It looks about 2/3rds the size of the Blue Marlin

WOW! I saw the John Glenn at Everette in May and I thought it was big!

Later,
