Guys

Here we go again.
Let's not mix oranges with apples. How old are two of the boats shown in this thread? The first one is the one from Marin in the first post, and the second one, is the one from Kennedy? Are there any FG boats as old as these ones? If you guys come to my home town in Brazil, I can show you a wooden pier built in 1893. I can also show you "escunas", traditional boats from Bahia, built in the early 30's belonging to people who never had more than one single pair of shoes and who sails in them until today.

Escunas and Saveiros from Bahia

See two different boats from my area

The big one was originally made in the early 60's.
The sail one is older than any of us in this forum. They are both made of wood with very basic techniques and without designed plans.

....Please don't forget

Most of the FG boats made until 10 years ago, had all their core structure made of wood.

Last Saveiro regatta in Bahia, once every year, there were more than 200 boats. The Escunas are made up until today with the same wood, "jaqueira" or "ipe". Every year 5 or 6 new vessels go to the market. Three years ago an Italian guy sailled from Brazil to Italy a 145' escuna all in varnish...
