Do you use portable surge protectors

On my motorhome, I have a decent surge protector between the plug in box and the power line. I've linked below various RV protectors, are there marine equivelent?

The ones mounted inside do not require expensive marine plugs , and will not grow legs.

Yeah, really. Those prices for essentially a bunch of MOV's is tremendous. Most of the cost is connectors.

This one works with a 240/120 system; I just installed one in my house.

I have used the Surge Guard 67050 unit on our boat for over 5 years with good results. This unit has a 2 minute countdown after a surge to allow sensitive electronics like the AC time to rest before power is restored. I also like the high/low voltage and reverse polarity protection.

Unfortunately our unit gave up the ghost a couple of months ago and it appears Surge Guard no longer makes the marine 50 amp unit. I was at Camping World yesterday and saw the Surge Guard 50 amp RV unit on sale. It has all the same features just different plugs. As much as I hate to do it it looks like I'll be making marine/RV jumpers to make the RV unit work for us.

If anyone knows of a similar marine protector with the same features pleas point me in the right direction.

The RV folks seem to like the Progressive Industries Portable EMS RV Surge Protector EMS-PT50C.

If its hit a $30 piece is replaced , rather than the entire unit.

A concept worth checking.
