Some shots I took on Friday in Dubai. The Creek is not one but is a dredged-out inlet from the Gulf. It is quite narrow near its mouth and traffic can get very congested. When rush hour on the water coincides with a strong ebb current-- a good three knots it seemed this particular evening--- it can get quite lively. Traffic mangement consists of car horns on the water taxis and crewmen on the bows of the big dhows that yell and gesture at the taxis to get out of the way. Combine this with the sound of dozens of single-cylinder diesels in the taxis and the roar of the large and very powerful diesels in the dhows and it is as noisy as it is busy.
