I don’t get boating gifts, I just buy them myself. That way I get the correct thing and my wife doesn’t need to know the actual cost. I just tell her that she doesn’t want to know what it cost.

That's how we do it, too. I do allow her, however, to handle the "domestic" aspects...the bedding, towels, curtains, fabric for cushions, etc.

She trusts me for the really critical decisions, such as the best anchor....
