Wifey B: Yes, I am also generally not superstitious, but when it affords the opportunity of great pleasure as does honoring Salacia, then it seems like the thing to do to me. My hubby certainly approves.

Can't take a chance

On my first boat, a 25 foot sailboat, I changed the name without going through any rituals. I did not know any better. Later, with me onboard, this boat sank. No injuries to myself.

I have had 4 boats since and have not changed the name of any of them.

They were and are all good to me as I was to them.

I do not tempt fate.

I've been in maybe half a dozen fender benders in my entire life (usually, thank goodness, not as the driver). As far as I know, none of the cars involved had ever gone through a name change, but the accidents happened anyway. So, whose wrath was being loosed on the drivers . . . the patron saint of asphalt?

Wifey B has some good points.
Since I changed the name the boat has been behaving very well; except for some minor engine issues. Now I realize we haven't properly broken in the "engine room". This could be a problem as neither me nor my wife are double-jointed. Perhaps on the cockpit hatch with the vibrating volvo below will suffice?

Wifey B: I'm sure Salacia is very tolerant and will accept your best efforts in the nearest area as more then meeting the requirement. After all, it's all about making the boat a place of love, contentment, and happiness.
