Self heating drinks and meals

These are great for those times you're out cruising, but it's too rough or you just don't feel like firing up the galley, but want something hot to eat or drink.
http://store.ontech.com:80/*- various self heating coffees, drinks and soups.
http://www.heatermeals.com/*- complete meals.

Sure beats MRE's!

RE: Self heating drinks and meals

Keith:

Are those self heating meals "hot" or just warm? The website says 100 degrees which would do it fot me. I never heard of these before....thanks for the tip!

Thanks for the info, Keith. These products look like a good addition to the emergency supplies for the home too. Never can tell when all the power we take for granted will be interrupted.

If you want a multi part meal that is nice & hot,
'
Get a large metal pail with about a gallon of sea water

Insert any cans you wish to dine from and boil them all for at least 20 min.

Take the labels off IF you will be heating potatoes , carrots or other raw vegis for dinner.

In 20 -30 min a can gormet meal is ready , no pots to clean.

Yes,, I was a bachelor most of my life !

A pressure cooker can do wonders in a seaway.* The food cooks quickly, stays hot, and can't "get away".* There are any number of very simple meal recipes available on line.

FF, I can see why both of us have been bachelors for most of our lives...

Why bother with the boiling water? Just set the cans on the engine block for a couple of hours and you've got a nice hot meal. For that matter, you can triple wrap weiners and other stuff and it'll cook on there. There used to be a cookbook specifically for meals prepared on engine blocks, but I can't remember the name.
