Bottom paint on Tuesday...

Bringin' Ancora into yard for a bottom paint job. When we made the appointment we told the yard manager we wanted the usual Ultra-Blue copper bearing bottom paint. The Sicilian asked about the non-copper paint and he said he would talk us out of it if we wanted it. He has had too many customers come back and blame him for the failure of the paint to live up to the hype.

IMHO bottom paint without copper has not been in use long enough and in enough water areas (salt, brackish, fresh, etc.,) to prove that it can hold up. I painted my boat's bottom in October and used a good copper-based paint. Three or so years from now when it's due again I'll have 3+ years of track record of the non-copper based paints.
