Trawler Quest

My search is over, Today I signed papers for a 36' Marine Trader double cabin trawler. Im exhausted after boarding boats from Miami to Galvaston. It was worth the effort as she is perfect. Now the fun can start!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BB

RE: Trawler Quest

Nice, congratulations! I had my heart set on a Marine Trader 36 or Albin 36, but then I stumbled across my Marine Trader 43, and couldn't pass up the deal. Where is your boat located? What year? Pictures?

RE: Trawler Quest

BB,I was looking at a C&L 37 on YW and was a bit standoffish with it as I saw in the pics that the bow ran down w a big bow wave and the stern ran high w her (painted) WL high. Then I noticed others doing the same thing and never figured out why some boats did this * * ...or appeared to. But since you are about to buy this one and it's at least a little down in the bow*(visually at least) I'd ask around and see if you can find out why this is. Sorry if this is water on your party. I have one possible theory about this and that is that it may be an issue w the single engined boats only. The engines could be further aft than one would think and the design could have been made as a twin engined boat only and the manufacturer just decided to offer a single engined version of the boat on his own without calculating the new CG or consulting the designer. The change in CG may be all there is to it. But it's hard for me to imagine how that could be. I would think the twin to single change would not change the trim much at all but there are lots of boats that appear to be bow down. Lots of fish boats are seen in this state but no need to wonder about them as it's obvious their fish holds are aft and far from full. Anyway since you're not closing till Monday at least you could find out about this. Could be just an optical illusion on my part.

BB:* Good looking boat! (I don't see a problem with the way she sits at the waterline.)

If you have a Bruce, Claw or knockoffs of either, it's the only way to go.

********* BB,* Doe's she have a Ford Lehman 120?* If so you might want to check out the past threads about the differences between the Jabsco and the Johnson raw water pump.** Before you head off to Belize I would probably make sure I had the newer Johnson Pump.**

Take care** JohnP

Congrats BB!* I know the hull and engine well, she'll take care of you. Check with Brian at American Diesel before you head off into the wild blue yonder about the recommended services on the lehman ie: coolers and heat exchanger, etc..
