Not so on the Ocean Alexander 42 Sedan. The shore power connection is on the starboard forward third of the boat and if you back in, there's a connection above the swim platform on the port side. My power cord is just a little over 18 feet long. She also has a side door for entering and exiting should you find yourself dealing with a short finger dock. Except for no walk in ER, she's a great boat.

Thanks, Peter! It only took me 20+ years and about 7 other boats to understand what we had in the first place. The OA 42 Sedan is not a boat for everyone. Rather, it's a boat that is super comfortable, has good guest quarters (their own head and shower) A fair turn of speed (10 to 20 knots), and suits the Southern Cal region to a tee. (Long distances to any of the offshore islands.)
We cruise her at 10 knots but she will easily run all day at 17 knots. When the sea gets a little "bumpy" adding a little coal in the ER tends to smooth things out nicely.

Sister Ship (this boat has a down helm which we did not want. Ours has a dinette in that location, side x side twin beds in the guest SR & a hard top on the fly bridge.)

I think it's a shame that there are no OA 42's being built today by them or others. They've done as so many and gotten larger and larger with their smallest boat now being 70'.

Walt is a generous gentleman and great patriot, and it pleases me he's enjoying a wonderful boat.
