Anybody Missing a 45 Footer in Southern California?

We are familiar with the boat. It is owned by an elderly, retired psychiatrist who lived aboard. Not what you would call a pristine yacht, by any means. When in the area, we would see if he was okay and exchange pleasantries. He anchored the boat, along with others, off of North Island and would sometimes enter the harbor and take up a mooring in protected waters. The Navy is not all that enamored of the boats anchored off their property as they are stuck with the salvage costs when they break loose and wind up on the beach.

Looks like it's not the only boat that washed up on that beach. Looks like a fairly decent sized sailboat to the right of it.

That's the problem. Every time there is some wind, these boats wind up on the beach and the Navy (read taxpayers) is stuck with the bill. There was a time when they could anchor in the south bay but the free(?) anchorage became an environmental disaster. Now, in order to anchor in San Diego Bay, one needs a permit, readily available from the Harbor Police, but short term only, no homesteadin'.
