Congratulations on a beautiful boat. Happy for you. :thumb: My wife scours the web nearly every night looking for ours. After months of searching she really has a good idea of what to look for. I've conversed with several brokers over boats. There is a difference. Enjoy, and be safe.

Since Monday, Ted and I have been kinda hanging around each other for meals, talking boats and projects especially. At least for a while, we're camped-out at the same marina. It's hard to believe that this Cherubini could be a project in any way, but Ted's plans to make it the perfect boat are inspiring. Meanwhile, I'm getting a lot of advice on my own projects. It's great to have another "engineer" around to throw around ideas.

We're still at Stuart Landing Marina, about 45 minutes (trawler speed) up the St. Lucie (Okeechobee Waterway) from Stuart Inlet.
 
Thanks everyone for your kind words! Really enjoying my new boat. So far it's been lots of routine maintenance on the engine and shortly the genset. Every time I start on a project I find myself stopping to figure out how this or that system is setup. Was changing out filters on the dual Racor separators today and noticed a 1/2" valve protruding through a low wall next to the separators. The valve was plugged. Curiosity got the better of me and the filter change took a break to investigate the valve. Turns out the valve is connected to the fuel tank. The fuel tanks have drains at the bottom. So now I'm planning out my new fuel polishing system utilizing the tank drains. :)

The filters all finally got changed today, but more projects are now in the planning / daydreaming stage.

Wore out pairs of shoes and probably spent $4K to go look. Made up my mind at least 5 times on different manufacturers boats only to just not feel this was the one. Looked at the sister ship to this boat 2 years ago; fell in love with it, but it was just way to far out of my price range. Well I'm happy to say the price of this one dropped near my price range and I pulled the trigger. We sea trialed and finished the survey today. Have a few minor survey issues to resolve, but should be the proud owner of a 2001 45' Cherubini Independence soon.

I love youre boat very cool,,, Heres another question, have you started looking for you next one yet? Or is it just me ? It always seems like a trade off , Im thinking the only way Ill be happy is with 2 boats.
 
Two boats are not enough. I'm currently at six and a half. Mostly pretty small, but still...

I toy with the idea of a 32 to 35' Downeaster trawler that would fit on an eighteen wheeler boat hauler trailer without wide load or over height permits (lead / follow escort vehicles). Have it moved relatively inexpensively to a cruising destination. "Take my boat to Alaska". When winter comes, "Take my boat to La Paz, Mexico". Fun to play "what if".

There will be no other big trawler. Have too much time invested in this one. Instead of looking for another, I'm focused on where else can I go with this one. Much easier and less expensive.

Yup. There is a running joke in the bicycle community that the perfect number of bikes to own is N + 1 where N is the number you currently have. We had to set a cap of 15 on the number of bikes in our household a few years ago - when at quota and a new bike comes in an old one has to leave. I've been contemplating something similar to boats. Just got rid of one of my two Lasers and am now down to five boats, trying to work out the appropriate cap.
 
Had four boats few years ago. Pared down to two. Actively looking for another... not very big though. ;)
 
Wiifey B: We've said, new boat and one has to go, at our limit...problem is, easy enough for us to change the limit....surely we won't. :)

Hubby has a boat weakness.....must be him. Surely not me. :angel:

You sound like a candidate for the new Great Harbour Trailerable Trawler TT35. That is, if you can stand two gas outboards and a composting toilet.
