These two GB36s are 16 years apart in age. Ours was one of the first ones made when American Marine switched from wood (Kowloon Yard) to glass (Singapore Yard) for their GB line in 1973. By 1988 the original molds built by Howard Abbey were wearing out so they made new molds for the GB36 and GB42. The boat on the right is an '89 from the new molds. The new molds made the 36 and 42 a wee bit longer, a wee bit wider, and not-insignificantly taller for more room inside the boat.
The boat on the right is in the yard for cleaning after it was innundated by smoke from a boat fire in the slip immediately in front of it. Total cleaning bill-- $27,000.
