Northern routes

I was looking for any information on crossing the Atlantic by the way of say New England to nova Scotia to Greenland to Iceland then on to the Faores......I read a passage-maker article about coming from east to west but was wondering about coming the other way. Has anyone done this aside from these guys of course and what was it like, what time of year was it and how were the conditions? I read lots of stuff about crossing at further south latiudes but wondered about these.

Search around here and you will find a long thread and a variety of posts by Richard on Dauntless who did exactly this.

Read "World Cruising Routes" by Jimmy Cornell. The north Atlantic routes are well described, as are routes to the Fareos, Shetlands, northern Norway, Greenland and of course, Bear Island.

I studied this extensively for a couple of years before my crossing.
Then two weeks before departure, I had to change the course due to ice off of Newfoundland.

Thank you both. Read quite a bit of your blog Dauntless at sea. Good stuff!
