Got the chance to break away a couple of weeks ago to check out the Asparagus Festival in Stockton, CA. It was something we never had the chance to attend in our 27 years in the Sacramento area. We planned to make it a cruise-in event to the new Stockton Marina, an easy walk along the waterfront to the festival.
We had been planning to attend for about 6 weeks and were on the waiting list for a slip at the recently rebuilt Stockton Marina. When Pineapple Girl had to give up her spot at the top of the waiting list, she contacted me and arranged with the marina to transfer our boat into her prime spot. (Thanks so much, Jennifer and Matt!!)
As the festival approached, we still were waiting for a cancellation and didn't have a spot at the marina. Finally, just before engine start to head that way in our quest for a slip, the marina called and we were in! Not only did we have a spot, but we got a single covered slip. (Thanks so much, Jennifer and Matt!!)
After a leisurely 2:30 cruise, we arrived and enjoyed the local restaurants and bars near the marina. The Asparagus Festival turned out to be quite enjoyable with perfect weather and interesting foods. Here are some pics of the local traffic and sights.
