Anything over 7 knots sucks the wind out of your lungs!!:speed boat:

Yes and the small little white breaker for the safety switches is bad. Have a new one on order. For now it is bypassed.

Having a great time at Campbell River. Pairadice found this nice cove across from town. Smooth and peaceful. Good find John.

Finally you two ol' cruising buds are back together. Good job Tom on catching up.

I've been following your progress but not posting much. Keep the pics coming and I'm enjoying the chatter.

Breakfast at April Point Lodge?
Or lunch, or dinner? Erica and I very much enjoyed a meal there a few years ago. Provided it hasn't changed, we can recommend it. It is about a mile by dinghy from your anchorage.

Underway. Next stop Port Neville via Seymour Narrows. We got company last night.

Seymour Narrows are fun. We pickup a 7 mph push. Ran over some small whirlpools. This is fun.

Just took an hour to get through current passage. I now know why they call it that. Lots of whirlpools and heavy curreny. Just about turned us sideways. Pairadice did tirn sideways I think. Slowed us from 8mph to 2mph. We are now out of it. No more current places ahead. Glad to be done with it.

Port Neville

Pairadice and ASD, tied up at the govt. dock at Port Neville. No rain all day, until we dock, go figure.
We leave early for Port McNeil and will have a push most of the way.
Seymour Narrows was fun. Pairadice set a new record for SOG at 12.7 knots, woo wee!

Can you feel the rat race fading away yet?

Can you feel the rat race fading away yet?

Well ya! That's why we do this! 171 days last year and about the same this year.

We got a weather window as of now to get around Cape Caution on Thursday. Then we are pretty much out of civilization and wifi for another week to 10 days.

Dont you all wish you were doing this?

Cheers, Crusty

Be sure to wave hello to Burnett Bay for us; the 5km long orange beach just south of Cape Caution. We have fond memories of surf, deer, and wolves on one of BC's best and least visited beaches.

If you guys enjoyed Seymour Narrows, maybe you should try Nakwakto Rapids (16 knots :eek: ) before you round Cape Caution;

Murray, was this clip filmed from Turret Rock...aka Tremble Rock? If ASD and Pairadice aren't familiar with this area, they should be careful near Slingsby channel, just to the SW of Nakwakto. On a big ebb and with a southerly wind and swell, Slingsby should be given a wide berth.....it's effects can be felt several miles out.

Yup, the teeny tiny islet in the middle of the whole show. I've never been there myself, but agree that lots of research would have to be done and attempted (both entering and exiting) when conditions are good.

Both Captains heading north in this thread are smart cookies :thumb:

My boat, back when she had 42hp and 7.7 knots WOT speed, made it in and out of Belize Inlet successfully through there.

I still maintain that if anyone has water-skied behind tremble island, there would be a photo on the internet.

That would be a hellofa stunt. With that much current, it must be possible, although a little dicey getting in position to ski and then getting plucked out of the water afterwards.

The Canadian Sailing Directions for that area shows an overhead shot of Nakwakto at max current on a spring tide. Scary.

Timing is everything, was there 2 seasons ago. Allison Sond is Beautiful. What is really cool, is there is only a couple of feet of tidal change. So what you have when you anchor, is what you have. Only spent 4 days, need to go back.

We went into Belize inlet maybe 5 years ago and went all the way to Allison Sound too. A beautiful spot but we were run out of there by the deer flies. No other boats and pristine.

Because of that inlet we will be on the west side of Storm Island!!!! Someday, maybe.

Looks like our next window across cape caution will be Friday. But wait and see, it seems to change on a whim!

Here are a few pics of Port McNeill. Crusty filling his water tank or taking a pee overboard?

The blue boat, High Pockets is aluminum!!!!! WOW!

Great Pic of ASD. Thanks Tracey!!!:thumb:

Welcoming Committee

They welcomed us for a few minutes just south of Alert Bay yesterday.
