Those of you who cruise up and down the North*Carolina*ICW using the Alligator River route are missing a great stop if you don't stay a few days in the Outer Banks. Manteo, NC has a city marina with very reasonable rates. Several very nice places to eat are a stone's throw away. A couple of more upscale marinas (condo projects)*are down the road. Manteo is on Roanoak Island, across*the bay from Kitty Hawk and Nags Head. For north bound boats, Coinjock, NC is 37 nm. South bound, Hatteras Inlet is 67 nm and Oriental 50 more across Pamlico Sound.
