ICW-Georgetown to New Bern post Florence

Hi Folks. We are heading the opposite direction (south to north) in the next two weeks on the ICW and trying to figure out how good or bad the ICW is for fuel, navigation and debris. Has anyone gone through this area post Florence. Thanks

Still have to wait for the Socastee Bridge to become functional.

With a tropical depression forecast to pass over that area on Wednesday, flooding could stay an issue for another week or two.

Most everything else sounds OK to good.

Is that bridge inop open, or closed? For a while when we were down there last year, the bridge was closed to road traffic...

Socastee bridge still inop as of Oct 6, saturday. Could go out Winyah Bay and back in at Little River or Cape Fear River.

No idea what is wrong with bridge. If flooding to electrics, could be a while.

Gather that it is closed to marine traffic, but not 100% on that.

Not much in the way of debris, LOTS of brown water, even offshore it's like a sea of Dr. Pepper. Cape Fear River stinks to high heaven. We went outside from Morehead to Masonboro, not a problem and avoided a lot of the problem sections. Did go inside from Wrightsville Beach to New River, no issues. Shallote & Lockwood both non-issue. If you have the WX, offshore is a viable alternative. Plenty of inlets to enable day cruises outside with an inside overnight stay. Currently on Coosaw River, did Watts yesterday at MLW, our 5' draft made it, did see some 6 ft depths, but all passable. Debris isn't any more noticeable than in non-hurricane years. Didn't note any marinas closed or even with significant damage.

Did you mean inside from Wrightsville to Little River (thus the comment on Shallote and Lockwoods?)
