Ted: With that marina picture, you finally gave me a flattering angle of Slow Hand to work with. She sure is a beauty.

regarding "how do you get around?"; when weather has forced us to leave the boat in some of the more out of the way locations around the Chesapeake where a rental car agency was too far away, even Enterprise, that usually there is a U-Haul store close by and we've rented a small truck. The added bonus is the truck is cheaper than the car and there is not a drop charge for a one way rental. Now if I knew of a layover ahead of time, I could maybe find a load and pay for the rental. Done this enough that it has become my 1st call.

Well it's a beautiful Saturday on Chesapeake Bay. Wind is about 5 knots out of the North and I'm down bound with the tidal current, be in Norfolk, VA by noon. It blew up to 45 knots out of the NW for the last 3 days and remnants of tropical storm Nestor will be arriving in Norfolk tomorrow. So, in my normal fashion, underway by 1:30AM to take advantage of the weather window.

Thought I would revive this thead of my annual trips South to Fort Myers. Hoping to catch up with a few TF friends and check out a few new stops along the way. Should be a fun 3 weeks. 2nd stateroom is still available for those following by internet.

Ted

Safe traveling, Ted. One morning this week a big Fleming was southbound in the ICW, churning along at a good clip. The migration has begun.

As soon as the Nestor remnants clear out this afternoon, we are going to have us some nice weather for those adventurous enough to travel up the God's country here in the panhandle. Who knows, may pier may even get repaired for Hurricane Michael's damages this fall with its 16X48 and 18X48 slips either side of Frolic's lift.

We got hung up last Sunday at the great bridge lock for three hours waiting for the tide to drop enough so they could open the lock. We hit it at high and with all the extra water it was 2 foot above normal. Alligator bridge is back to normal operation as well.

Looking forward to seeing the two of you! Hope Sunset will still let me in with a tin (aluminum) boat for a dinghy.

Yes, it's not any warmer in upstate New York. If you need anchorages, marinas or any other recommendations, shoot me a PM.

Dealing with my own little drama. The South Mill bridge won't close or open all the way. Hoping they have everything resolved by Monday. Will sit out the weather here in the Swamp tomorrow, but may have to take the other route on Monday if the bridge isn't fixed.

Thanks! That 30 degree weather thing doesn't work for me.

Today's tip for the day. When heading into a major shipping port like Norfolk, remember to look behind you.

At 15 knots, he closed the gap quickly!

No, unfortunately it's not. And I've got that thing called "work" keeping us from taking the boat south for winter, so it just got tucked into a nice, cozy spot in the marina's storage shed. At least that means I've got a few months to do some work on it...

That's good to know. I've been watching for updates on that, hadn't seen anything anywhere else yet...

Ted, we also started south yesterday, from Rock Hall. pulled into Oxford at 1500 to explore the town. Had a nice walk with friends, dinner at Pope's Tavern. We will wait out the remnants of Nestor today and head to Solomons as soon as we can.

Will come back out of the Dismal Swamp and go Albemarle and Chesapeake canal if I don't get good news later today.
