The published schedule for the La Grange lock at mile 80 on the Illinois is that until 12 September it will be closed Monday through Saturday from 0600 to 1700. If you are in a recreational vessel headed up or down river and not arriving on open Sunday, this schedule combined with the stacked up commercial traffic can see you waiting many hours to get through, probably in the dark, if at all.

I called the lock today and found that the lock tender is taking advantage of the daily noon break the workers are taking to lock through recreational vessels. Our plan is to anchor the night before within reason able distance of the lock to arrive for locking up by 1100.
