Looks great. Glad to hear/see your progress and learn near term plans.

Know you've been asked a thousand times... but, with items at this state it seems more plausible to ask now... any inkling as to generally where on the calendar you feel Splash might happen?

We're all very excited for you and Flic! And, of course... for SOLSTICE too!!

Not sure mate. Going into hospital for an op that will lay me up for a couple of weeks soon. Hopefully December she’ll be done. Given I’ll be in the Phillipines towards the end of the year for a couple of weeks that’s 4 weeks lost in total. She has to be in the piss and working for Australia Day 2020...

Best luck for quick recovery. Hope the Philippines works well for ya! Thanks for reply. AD 2020 has a nice ring to it!

Greetings,
Mr. H. Amazing is too mild a word BUT I forgot about the black hull (or am I mis-remembering?). Is the current gloss too shiny for subsequent paint to stick to or will you have to rough it up a touch to provide bite?

Very nice woodwork. The boat is looking awesome.

RT, no problem with your memory (at least in this case).

Matt, WOW! That’s sure some high gloss, but imagine if it were only black . . . . .

No mate you remembered correct. Originally the hull was going to be black but I changed my mind. The black I will be painting are the window struts around the fwd windows and the blending in the side windows.

Spent the afternoon playing with my horn View attachment 93686

Looking at that set of bitts, and am wondering if you will be planning to protect that round down of the deck edge from rope burn when mooring and the dock line leads downward?

Ah yeah good point. Thanks for the heads up mate. I didn’t even think about that.

Oooo, that's gonna look slick. Your windows are gonna wrap around the house like the visor on the Stig's helmet.

I can't remember if you settled on a graphic or design for the topsides, or if you're just going solid ultra-gloss white. Also, what ended up happening with the engine room air intakes? Are they windows now?

Yeah I think that will look slick too. I’ve decided to leave the hull grey and not add any decals yet. I’ll wait till I scratch it and then make something to cover the damage hahaha.

Those intakes are now windows and will be covered by a solid black glass panel

No boat polishing this arvo cause I went and picked this bad boy up. It’s only a couple of years old and was used for two weeks. Rest of the time it sat in a cupboard. Good ol Perth Beer Economy coming through with the goods yet again. Now the boat will have icy cold AC when I’m doing the interior fitout on the boat on those stinking hot days.

Well before the polisher started smoking more than Bob Marley at a 60’s hippie festival, I had the starboard squared away except for a couple of touch ups. Still had a bit of time up my sleeve so I started prepping the bottom rubrail for its nonskid coating.

You feeding that polisher wacky tobacky??

Well I stayed nice and dry in my shed bay this afternoon but unfortunately I ran out of heavy cutting compound so that put the anchors on the polishing for today. I fitted the anchor locker drain cover and started to fit the transom shower before the home time siren went. Always a nervous time cutting and drilling into a freshly painted surface. Will be a neat little hot and cold fresh water shower to have on the back deck in addition to the main one downstairs.

Matt me mate!

She glistens. Shower at stern will keep you glistened too!! As always... looking great!

Art

For all the rubbing you do on your lady boat, I am very surprised she is not wet already. He says innocently.

Hi Matt,

Have you started application of the KiwiGrip yet? I am putting it on our aft cabin roof but want a smoother texture than was on Ebbtide. Looking for roller suggestions. We used the supplied roller and a 1/8” notched trowel on Ebbtide and it was just right for a walking surface. Thinking maybe a 1/16” notched trowel and the supplied roller might be what we want for Seafarer. What do you think?
Cheers,
Bob

Hi mate. I’ve not done the roof in kiwigrip yet however I have done the lower rub rail. I know exactly what you mean. Try using a textured roller from your local paint shop. Used for texture coating walls. I’ll take a pic and show you what I’m going to use for the big surface areas

Some rub rail action this afternoon. 20mm PE100. Should last a while. Once it’s all screwed off I’ll run around with some black sika and cover over the stainless steel batten screws. Won’t look perfect but will take your eye away from it and make it look less like I’ve been peppered with an AK47 [emoji23]

Nothing along the rail cap or did you make the other rub rall rubber stick out beyond the cap?

Rubba Dub - Looking forward to that ducky's first day in the tub! I can hear the splash!

Racing stripes! That'll make her at least 20% faster.

More rubrail work this afternoon

Rub rails? Surely, you're not going to get this piece of artwork, close enough to rub anything?:socool:
