To reopen an old thread;* I found this while digging thru my boat papers looking for windless paperwork.* Must be from 1982, same dealer that sold my boat when new.*

performance is very impressive.

but why does it drop off at 1750 RPM so much?
actually at 1750 the performance is worse than any other power setting, why?

I had to look to see what you are refering to.* I see it now.* 1750rpm is the point of maximum hull angle (6deg.).* The is point beyond which it starts to climb out of the hole and plane.* According to the test it topped out at a tad over 25 statute mph.* I have never seen that from mine.* Perhaps it is like a lot of us, and a little heavier than used to be.

Thanks for posting those articles and flyers, you have more info than most of us. *Also you can probably go in and update your biography now. . *. *. *. *. looks like you got her!!

"Been a good boat but it burns an insane amount of gas. In market for a used 30 -40 ft. trawler, practical, not a showpiece."

I still like that blue hull, really looks great!

RE: 34 Californian Articles, Specs and Factory Options List

I do have the 1982 Wellcraft/Californian LRC Owners Manual.* I don't know if it is 34ft. specific, or for all models but many of the schematic drawings indicate they are for the 36,38 and 42.* It is about 40 pages long.* It includes wiring schematics for AC DC and panel, terminal blocks, color codes, flybridge, plumbing, fuel, maintenance reccomendations, torques etc.** If I ever get a couple hours of down time I will the scan the thing and post.***

But, in the mean time, if you need something, let me know and I'll see if I have it.* I can scan and post at least that much.* I have found the electrical info to be very useful as I go electrical gremlin hunting.

That would be great. *Even though Wellcraft took over production by then, I'm sure a lot of us would appreciate having a copy of that manual. *Mine is a 37', but the 38' was essentially the same boat with several inches added to the rear deck to accomodate a rear deck storage hatch.

Also a question that came up recently, do you have a manufactures tag affixed to the top of your wiring/cable tube that goes up to the flybridge from the main cabin? *If so it should have the manufactures name and hull number embossed on it.

Thanks

Where would it be?* In the salon?* Mine has a square wood cable chase*that is abouut 6in. sq to the outside.* I'm stopping at the boat on my way tonite, I will look.* Incidently many of the schematic drawings are dated in the seventies so I doubt much changed over the years.* I also have the paperwork for much/most of the OEM equipment as well.*

The cable chase is the same on all models. *If you have a tag, it will be in the salon on the stern facing side, at the top, of the wood cable chase. *However, you may not have one. *My tag is about 1 1/2" x 3' brass with black lettering held on with a brass nail at either end. *Flywright has a 1977 34' Cali and he says he doesn't have one. *Maybe they didn't put them on 34's or maybe they were removed by PO? *Don't know for sure? *I will take a picture of mine and post it next time I'm at the boat. *It will be a while though as I'm leaving town tomorrow on business.*

I agree, I don't think Wellcraft, after taking over from Marshall, made many changes, so anything you have would be valuable to all.

Looks like maybe the 34's don't have a tag. *At least I haven't found one with a tag. *I wish I had the manual Per, it's actually Capn Craig who has it.

How about it Craig, anything we can do to help you?

Makes me wonder if Marshall Boat Co moved from Santa Ana to Tustin between 1977 and 1981.

Thanks for posting the tag pics.

Per's is Tustin? *

You can't really see it in my pictures, but mine is the length 37 and the number 055 (which doesn't match the HIN) *Interesting!!

When did Marshal hand over production to Wellcraft and did they move the plant?

34 Californian Articles, Specs and Factory Options List

The article above says they sold to Wellcraft in 1982. The Wellcraft brochure effective Jan 1, 1982 has both Tustin, CA and Sarasota, FL addresses.

So Wellcraft built them in Tustin and Sarasota?*

I saw an interior picture of a 34' over the weekend and I could have sworn there was a tag on the cable chase. *I was going to download it and blow it up larger, but forgot and now I can't find it!!
