Red face 1972 38' Marshall Yacht

Hello all,
My husband and I have just purchased a 1972 38' or 42' (length depending on if you're looking at the registration or asking the guy that sold her to us) Marshall Yacht, named Quite a Lady. She has been registered through the DMV as a liveaboard, and we are currently giving her some much needed love with the goal of making her a charter boat. The design of this little lady is quite unique compared to many other trawlers I have seen in that she has a fair amount of deck space due to having no aft cabin. Now, as for my question: are there any resources available in reference to very early Marshall yachts? I've found a good amount on Californians (including that early Californian thread on this site), however my boat is a few years before even that transition. I'm looking to register the boat via USCG, and they want proof that the boat was built in the US so i'm starting my digging with the experts here in this forum. I know it's wishful thinking but a Marshall yacht registry of all the boats built in 70's would be really fantastic right about now. LOL. Help!
Thanks in advance...
Viv

Wow. A 1972 38' sedan that's pretty rare! Is your State DOL using the overall measurement or hull length?

I don't even know how to answer the coast guard asking you for proof of US manufacture?? Californian Yachts and Marshall Boat Company are documented US manufactures and have had a manufacturing plant in Southern California for many many years. So I guess it's just more government bureaucracy. I don't know if they're currently manufacturing boats, but the same company also built Navigator and Californian Yachts in California in recent years.

If you haven't already done so, sounds like you need to contact a documentation service to help you cut through the red tape.

Any idea what kind of proof they're asking for? The manufacture would have provided the first buyer with a Manufactures Statement of Origin (MSO). The MSO would have gone to the state DOL where the vessel was first titled. I would think that that would be definitive proof.

Good Luck

Is that a FG hull? What are the first 3 characters of your HIN?
