Hawg, I believe that is correct. Mainly because past posts are so intertwined with later ones, and removal of parts of the posts here and there would make nonsense often of subsequent posts put up in response. Does that help..?

Thanks Peter. Sometimes I get a notion to chunk out old useless stuff.

It is not a profile picture you see in peoples posts it is their avatar that shows up. Go further down to "Settings and Options" see edit avatar and put your photo there...

it sends a PM to the person who made the post. They get notice that someone appreciated the post and there is an opportunity to make a comment as well when you hit the thanks button.

Thanks Janet.
The other day I was rummaging around in my account and stumbled across a bunch of "Thanks" that had been sent to me over several months, many with comments. I had not received a notice for any of them.

Now I can't find them again.

Where are they received, do they disappear once read and is there a way to set up the notification?

I get regular PMs fine.

Hawg, the notice about the thanks usually appears in your Personal Message inbox and you are normally emailed about it as well, so you can be alerted to look for it. It sounds to me like you need to go into your profile, and go down the list of preferences, and see if you haven't by mistake excluded all email notifications, even though it is probably best to exclude the one that can be sent every time someone replies to a thread you have posted on. That can be a bit much, I admit, and have that option turned off myself.
Hope that helps.

Hmmm, thanks Peter I'll go dig around.
I get all email notices of posts and PMs but nothing on "Thanks."

Now some would say I don't deserve any so there probably were none to find. But, unless I stumbled into somebody else's yard, there were 25 over several months that I had no clue of.

Can't find them now either.

Do me a favour, will ya? Send me a thanks on this one. See what happens.

Be back in a bit....

Ok, that was quick. I did find it/them, no need to thank on this, Peter.
But...
6 folks took the initiative to hit "thanks' on this post as a test. See them all, thanks folks, but didn't get email on any of them.

I'll go play.

OTDE is a sub forum to Off Topic Forum (OTF) and is an opt-in forum. On the Trawler Forum Home Page, under Trawler Forum, OTF is the last one down.

You can do this from your user CP.

http://www.trawlerforum.com/forums/p...editusergroups

Check the radio button and then select join... that said, it's a toxic place and you may find that you like TF members better if you don't read that blather in that area

My guess (and it's a total guess) is since you have less than 10 posts your activity inadvertently aroused the suspicion of the forums automated anti-spam software. It'll likely allow you to resume soon or perhaps after one of the moderators intervenes on your behalf.

Standard Internet forum protocols.
