But often I still get the following: "The threads below have not been updated since your last visit but still contain unread posts."

What's with this?

I think you're getting that 'bar' in the list received after selecting "Today's Posts" following your "Mark Forums Read" choice. My understanding is that the thread links above that "bar" (if there are any) have been updated since your "Mark Forums Read" selection and those below that "bar" have NOT been updated since your MFR choice.

Of course, I'm just the janitor around here, so I could have it all wrong. But that's the way I see it from the janitor's closet.
 
No, it happens after I have selected "New Posts".
 
When I select MARK FORUMS READ, the NEW POSTS, I get a page with a vBulletin Message that reads,

"Sorry, there are no new threads to view.

You may search for threads updated during the previous 24 hours, here."

Clicking the link "here" takes me to TODAY'S POSTS.
