Can anyone help, please?

Just changed laptops and find I have the Trawler Forum covered in adverts. Any idea how I turn them off?

I use a content blocker on my iPad. Don’t know if that would help on a laptop or not. Got it on the app store.

If you changed computers, you may not be signed into the forum. Make sure you check that. Non- signed in visitors do see a lot more advertising. Signing in doesn't mean zero ads, but the ones we see are "in their place".

No, even with the content-blockers, which seem largely ineffective, there are too many ads. Google is destroying the internet experience and certainly spoiling my interest in getting on here to contribute. On principle, I will never ever click on an ad unless it’s to close it. If a video pops up, I put my hand over it until it expires. Sooner or later customers will abandon the sites that have failed to live up to expectations, exactly like the movement to cut cables to tv.

I currently run both Adblock Plus and Adware Ad Block (both free) and never see any advertisements on any sites including Yahoo home page. Someone on another site that I visit was complaining about ads yesterday - I honestly did not realize that there were ads.

OMG! I just added adblock plus on my laptop and all of the ads I was seeing on this forum are gone! Thank you so much for that information.

Well, thereyahgo then. Another problem solved by accessing the combined brains and experience of TF. Well done guys. Although I must admit, I have become so good at switching off to ads - ads anywhere - that I haven't even bothered to download an ad-blocker app. I guess we all differ as to what rings our bells - or rocks our boat..? But hey, just out of curiosity I might just download that Adblock Plus thingy, and see what difference it makes.

PS. I have elected to set the ABPlus so that so-called 'acceptable' ads are allowed through. These are described as 'non-intrusive', but do help raise revenue to contibute to the running costs of the site. We need to bear that in mind. It is revenue from these that makes the site able to be as good as it is. Just sayin'
