Lobster Skiff

My friend Snapper and I have been building a small boat for about three years now. Actually Snapper built the boat. I mixed epoxy, cut plugs, handed him tools and held things.

Today we went for a ride. It was wonderful!

Photos of the build at this link.

Wow. What a work of art. I would be afraid to get her dirty or risk a scratch.

I bet you were. Especially knowing how much time and effort went into it.

What a lovely boat. Reminds me of the timber skiffs here, a few survive, with one or 2 cylinder gas engines started using a leather strap around the flywheel, which we call a "putt putt". A labour of love.

Looks like a beautiful job on that skiff. Jericho Bay? Looks about the right size.

Park the boat is beautiful, you guys did a great job. Congrats.
Looks like retirement is agreeing with you, enjoy. Every time I go by HC I have to remember I won’t see you, all those years it had to comprehend.

Cheers

Parks. I love your choice of tools, Lie-Nielsen planes are the best.

That’s Snapper’s Shop. He is an amazing furniture making who wastes most of his time pretending to be a lawyer. The joinery on the boat is beautiful.

Fantastic looking.

A lot of skill and love went into building that boat.
Rule #1, you want to ride in that boat, bring a towel to sit on, all clothing is left on the dock.

Those are Snapper’s. He likes quality tools. He really enjoys using hand tools but isn’t a snob about it.
