Hypalon with aluminum floor

I’ve got a chance to pick up a dinghy for free. My uncle sold his sailboat a couple years back and kept the dinghy and motor thinking he might get another boat. He gave me the motor last year and it’s been perfect for my Trinka.

The dinghy is a 9’6” West Marine hypalon with aluminum floor. The aluminum floor has delaminated some from the tubes in the bow area . He has the hypalon repair kit also.

Has anyone had any experience with this repair? I don’t need another dinghy. This will give me three total and I haven’t been able to sell the walker bay hard dinghy, but free is free .

Hypalon is pretty easy to work with. Just make sure you get the correct glue and follow the directions. Could repair it and resell it if nothing else, should be easier to sell than your Walker Bay.

Sounds like a great uncle!!! He need any new nephews?? What's to lose? sounds like a great opportunity to learn Hypalon glueing. Im going to try my hand at it too this winter. only things I've picked up on so far is that Hypalon glue has a definite shelf life and to use toluene to prewash and sand everything prior to glueing. Its not clear from your description is it an aluminum floor with an inflatable keel or an aluminum RIB? sounds like a low risk way to learn
