What was it?

Walking the docks last night after dinner we came across a good-looking boat badged as a DeFever 48. It looked good and was worthy of further examination on our part. Unfortunately it was a transient and has departed.

The thing is, it wasn't like any other 48 I've seen. It appeared to be a newer-build--say, post-2000. It was a pilothouse design with a Portuguese bridge. No aft cabin. Teak cap rails. A mast that had what appeared to be a large flexible boot over the lower-half.

I've always had trouble understanding the various DeFever models and build histories, so I ask: What was this boat and when was it built?

Yup, that's it. Thanks.

"The 45, 46 and 48 are all built on the same hull and have similar single stateroom layout. The 46 and 48 have fly bridges. The 48 Euro is extended to include a fine boarding area. The semi-displacement hull has a relative flat run aft with hard chines that help achieve higher cruising speeds without squatting. The 46 is a 2007 design. The 48 Euro was new in 2008."
