HW Heater inlet

Hi everyone -

Has anyone seen this line up on a HW Tank inlet side. Gauge, then ball valve, and then what ?? All I can think is that it is a reducer but if that is the case wouldn't you want the gauge down stream of the reducer to make sure it is the correct pressure? Not sure what its function is. See photo. Inlet to tank currently disconnected in photo.

Might be a one-way valve. Check to see if there is an arrow in the casting.

I think Marco is correct. That should be a 1 way valve. It will stop hot water from back flowing to the cold water side of things.

That is commonly known as a check valve and it lets the water flow one way only.

Check Valve

Good Morning guys -

You are all correct. I took some close in photos and got enough information to nail it down. It is a 3/4" 200 LB Check Valve made by STRATAFLO and it does have an arrow on it for proper installation. Here is the link i found by Goggle:

Thanks for your assist - just trying to understand what I have onboard.

Thanks for the answers,
Bob
