Greetings,

Well after a few false starts, I finally found a P34 that had all of the bells and whistles I was looking for. Had to truck her from Chicago to MD, but it was worth it. Today is the first day of winter, but the spring can't come quickly enough! I'm sure I will have many questions and I look forward to participating in the forum.

Regards,
Jack D

Good Morning and congrats we look forward to hearing from you and yes come on spring

Welcome, Jack D. The Pilot 34 is a great boat. I know because I had one. Many nice features, and a great turn of speed. Enjoy.

Here is the old Moonstruck.

She's a beauty! This one had everything I was looking for EXCEPT the blue hull. But I can always paint her. Looking forward to getting on the water!

She looks great! was she recently delivered? i just saw a pilot 34 on I70 a few weeks ago. didn't catch her name.

Delivered on 12/11

Yes, you probably did see her. Came in on Thursday afternoon, Dec 11th. Funny, I have a buddy in Chicago that sent me a photo of her passing him by on his way to work. Small world!

very small world indeed. that was defiantly her. caught my eye because there aren't many moving this time of year if i remember correctly she was traveling with a 40' ish sailboat.

Welcome aboard. We have had our Mainship 2 seasons and are really enjoying the boat. If you haven't found the Yahoo Mainship forum you might want to check it out... there is a lot of Mainship specific info available there and a good compliment to this one.

Jack D, congrats on your new boat! We just had an offer accepted on one yesterday, and will be looking to share info. Will be joining the Yahoo Mainship forum as well.

Our boat has 2 Yanmar 240 diesels. Is that what yours has? If so, looking for performance numbers. Thanks!

Hi - I'm looking at 34 Pilots, any advice from any of you on what to want or want to avoid?

I'm still a new owner, but I am loving the hardtop.

Take your time and look at as many boats as you can. Both in person and online. Yachtworld seemed to have quite a lot when my wife and I were looking. Make a list of the options you need and those that you can live without. Don't settle on a boat that is missing a feature or item just because it seems like a great deal, unless you have the funds or ability to add it yourself. Even when buying used, you are going to drop a considerable amount of cash so you should get as close to what you want as possible. From experience I can tell you it seems that adding something usually winds up costing twice what you thought it would. You are on the East coast so you should not rule out anything from Maine to Florida. We are in NY and wound up getting ours in St. Petersburg Fla. The intercoastal is a great trip even if the time of year is not ideal. We moved ours in November. It took 2 weeks. Shipping via land is possible but I am not sure its cheaper. Everyone has an opinion about singles verse twins, get what suits you and your situation. Plenty of reading on here about the pros and cons. Most importantly, when you find one that you would like to buy have it surveyed from top to bottom. Crawl around in it with the surveyor. Take all this with a grain of salt because just like the twins verse single topic, this is just my opinion.
Best of luck in your search, and when you find your new to you boat celebrate

Trucking

FYI... I paid $4K to transport my P34 from Chicago to MD.

Congrats Jack, love the hardtop. We just bought our Pilot 34 Express last year not sure why we waited so long.
