My temp gauge goes from 185F to 220 is a few seconds. I have added a thermocouple and that gauge doesn't do the same jump. I figure the sender is shorting out--thus the 220F max scale.

I have a 1998 Yanmar 4LH with a VDO set of gauges. "They don't make the 220F sender any more, use a TU201 from advanced auto"

The TU201 has 2000 ohms at 90( 300 ohms at 160F)vs the original sender is about 400 ohms at 90F( 150 ohm at 160F).

I have to make calls Tuesday to see if the TU201 is in fact the right sender or did I get the wrong one. It has a green mark on the top.

Do all 100-220F senders have the same resistance curve.

Anyone cross this bridge before?

I need a 3/8" thread

Replaced the Temp Sender with:
3/8" TEMP SENDER FARIA 90403

450 ohms at 100 F'', maybe 37 ohms at 220F.

Worked, now we can cruise.
