A/C vent in cabin

On my Mainship 34T I had a little issue with the A/C. I removed the speaker on the port side and saw the duct just had a big hole in the duct, as if a vent belonged there. The air always came down thru the valance above the blinds on the port side. I think the air is just blown up the vent into the ceiling of the cabin and the natural area formed by the valence acts as a duct with no vent at all. When I removed that speaker, the cabin was much cooler. Maybe it should have a vent? I can move the speaker easy enough. Is there supposed to be a vent there? Was it just a convenient place for a speaker?

It sort of sounds like someone removed the vent and used the hole for a speaker and just left the duct behind the bulkhead.

Fairly common issue on the late 34Ts. My '08 34HT wasn't cooling the salon well and I checked after reading about it here.
The flex duct apparently wasn't secured to the hole into the valence above the windows. The slots are the outlets and do a decent job once the duct is attached.
I found a plastic flange the right size for the duct (6" if I remember correctly) and was able to connect it to the duct by working through the speaker hole... wasn't easy but did have success.
The flange was too big to fit through the hole so I had to cut it radially on one side. I was then able to feed it into the hole while rotating it. Once inside I slipped the duct over it and secured w tape or a wire tie... don't recall exactly.
I could then position the flange above the speaker so the air blew into the valence.
Cooling much improved and even get good flow all the way down to the fwd / galley outlet.
I don't know what Mainship was thinking... obviously not thinking stuffing the duct into the vertical chase would work.

Not an EZ place to work but I didnt want to start cutting access holes. Don't know if anyone else has found other approaches but it is fixable.
