What is this stuff made of? It feels like a phenolic plastic of sorts, but I wouldn’t bet on it.
My question arises because I want to paint it and need to know what it is so I can get the appropriate paint.
This is on a 36 Mainship Aft Cabin model

Tony, whatever it is, the key will be to select a primer that'll stick to the panels. I've had good success with this stuff. RustOleum.com
Once you have a clean, smooth primed surface, I'd guess any good marine paint, gloss or satin, your choice, would do the job. If the panels are easily removed, I'd suggest taking them off before you start.

The key is finding which primer to use. I would rather not guess at it.

I will definitely remove the panels first. I have spray equipment and much prefer spraying. It is faster, easier and leaves a professional factory look.
Thanks for the advice
