hydraulic steering

Any idea if all the Twainese trawlers have the same hydraulic steering and what the layout looks like? I would like to install an autopilot on a President 37.

Don't know if they are all the same, but my Nova has an air over oil system with a Wagner auto-pilot.

I don't know the answer to your question but all you really need to know is the volume of the steering cylinder which you could figure from its measurements or by draining.

I have a 35 SENATOR, the last two winters I have had to recharge the system.. It is air over oil, meaning only that the oils is under a sealed pressurized system.. Wondering if the loss of fluid, could be a result of sever temperature change. The steering block in an aluminum billet with same male connectors. The tubing is copper with what I think are brass fittings . Could the metals be expanding at a different rate causing a possible loss of air and oil?
The oil is about $28 a 1quart but more the pain bleeding the system down and recharging.
