I am planning on looking at a trawler equipped with twin HINO G-393N engines. Can anyone offer advise on these motors so far as fuel useage, parts availability, dependability, etc? Thanks.

Hinos are tough, reliable engines that are part of the Toyota family .They were marinized by US Marine, and parts are still available. Like any other piece of machinery, they live or die based on maintenance and care.

This guy, Earl Summerville, is the best Hino tech I've ever met- he has contacts for parts, has parts manufactured that are NLA, and is genuinely a nice guy. He travels the country in his motorhome every year, servicing Hinos across the country.

+1 For Earl, Although when I had my 32 Bayliner it had gas I wish I had diesel and Earl working on them. Hell I wished he worked on Detroits.
